It really depends on how bad the scratch(es) are. If they are very fine and can't be felt with the edge of a fingernail, they could probably be buffed out with the right polishes. If they're heavier, you'll likely need touchup paint, and if the scratches are REALLY bad, or are better described as heavy scuffs, you may need a repaint. This is a very simplistic guide, however. Can you post any pictures? Also, ask around in the Car Care section... there are some real sharp people over there who can set you straight!
For my black '97 I use Turtle Wax black polish. The car has been a daily driver with 90k miles and has lots of nicks and scratches. The black polish comes with a black wax stick to put in deep scratches and the black keeps everything black without white swirls in bad paint areas. For light scratches I have used a polishing compound to get things smooth then used the black polish to keep it looking good from a distance.
I cant find that black wax anywhere! Where do u buy it from?
I was thinking sinceyou cant see the scratches unless youre under the car, I can repaint the under bumper area with black auto spray paint and clearcoat. Good idea? I'llget some oics up soon.
Found the black wax. Only one autozone had it and I got there 1/2hr before closing! The scratches are a little too deep so I'll still have to sand and paint it. This stuff leaves the paint like glass though. Really nice. Im gonna do the whole car later today and take some pics when I get my wheels back from the polisher today. Thanx guys.
I used the black Turtle wax several years ago on my Grand sport and S-10, spent most of a day and both vehicles looked great. The problem that I had was that after the first car wash the vehicles looked like they did before the wax, I never used it again. Maybe it's been improved since then?
Same result as Barry. I use it on the rocker panels and inside wheel wells where the stones have been. I cover it with zanio but it still wears off. Looks way better than the freakles the stones leave. How to fix permanently? Squeege touch up paint? How to?

I just found this stuff myself as well and it has worked wonders. I was pretty damned suprised.
I didn't like the wax stick. But I found that the turtle wax itself (which has black dye in it) smothed most things right out.
