Default anyone have experience with Jasper engines?

Im putting a rebuilt jasper ls1 in my 2000 c5..it has a 100000 mile/3yr warranty. All sounds good, but the first engine installed was bad. The mechanics took it for a test drive to see if everything was working properly before handing it over to me and the engine failed..so out goes that one and Im waiting for the next one..the shop said that theyll hold it for a few days to make sure everything is good before I pick it up and pay for it.

My question is how reliable is this company, and are their motors really up to OEM spec? they say they are.. so if anyone has experience with this company, please share! Im alittle worried.

Why are you going with a Jasper engine, instead of a genuine GM Performance crate motor?

Because the mechanics have a good history with them and they recommended them because of the warranty. Also the GM motor I think comes with no/less warrenty and cost a few thousand more and since I will only be keeping the car maybe another 3 years before replacing it.

I'm not sure what you're paying for your Jasper motor, but a GM Performance ful motor with all brackets, bells & whistles is only like $6K. If you only need a short block, maybe $3K. It indeed comes with a warranty - 3 yrs/36K miles, I think. Contact Gene here on the forum for a great price. Not sure his contact info, but the guys on here can help.

BL - When you go to sell the car, I would consider the "hit" you're going to take with a Jasper engine in a vette. Have you considered that? I would have second thoughts about it. When you tell a potential buyer that you just put a rebuilt (sorry, remanufactured) motor in it, any smart buyer is going to ask who did the rebuild.

I have a Jasper transmission in my '95 Suburban - good price, average dependability (I've had issues with it), but for a Vette, no way! Just me though...

We use Jasper engines and transmissions in our EMS shop. Mostly diesels but a few LT 1s for our 9C1 Caprices and they are fine with few issues and a solid warranty. If it is already in I wouldnt worry about it

I've never used Jasper but I don't know that I'd be terribly concerned with Jasper. They do have a pretty good reputation and sounds like your shop knows what they are doing.

One thing I find interesting is the many viewpoints. No offense to anyone, but it seems there are purists on one end and folks who mod the heck out of their cars on the other, with the rest of us in the middle. If you plan on trading your car in 3 years, judging by the current trend, its probably not gonna matter what engine you have in the car as long as it runs.

If you care to believe the experts(?), my Z16 should be one of the most collectable C5s. But I didn't buy it for an investment. I bought it to drive it and when it gets a bunch of miles on it, I'll rebuild it the way I want it. It will be a project car. The way I have it figured is that it might be worth something box stock one day but I'll be long gone when that happens.

Anyway, my two cents and a bit off topic.

We have used jasper many times, but not for corvettes, (just never has happend yet). We have had very few problems with their product, and when we have they have always worked with us to pay labor claims ect. So I would have no problem using them.

I really don't see how a rebuilt motor will effect your resale...

I'd go crate, but Jaspers are pretty solid.
Run it well for 98k then blow it up and get a new one. They have a grat warranty.

Jasper is a decent engine company and they have been around for a while. You shouldn't have any issues.

It seems to me there are a lot of used c5 engines out there with low miles to be had relatively cheaply. That is what I would do anyway..
