Cracked Auto Tranny Servo Case?!

Default Cracked Auto Tranny Servo Case?!
I have a '04 with 87k miles which has been flawless till last night. Transmission started slipping and quickly went to no drive at all. Fluid poured out on the side of the highway and towed it to the dealer expecting a blown gasket or seal. This morning I am told the Servo Case is cracked and I need a new transmission. Is this a common failure??
