Having problems shifting
I have a '98 with an auto tranny and about two weeks ago after putting the car in park, I couldn't get it out of park. The **** would simply slide all across the place.
After playing around with it for about half an hour, it finally slipped back into place. I have been very careful recently while driving the 'vette to make sure it doesn't happen again but sometimes the problem I'm having now is that it doesn't go into park. First off, it's hard getting it out of park. I'm always careful now and make sure to pass through R, N and finally into D.
With that being said, once I let go of the button, you can always here the stick kinda bouncing forward if you will with sometimes you not knowing if it goes into park or not. I'm really lucky I live in So. Fla and it's flat here. I listen for the for tranny to make sure it's in park and now, always use my e-brake. I'm not sure what it is, if it's just the gear shifter unit or maybe something else, like the shifter cable. Any ideas?
