Yesterday I was making the usual drive from Houston to San Antonio. I filed the car up before I left as usual. It always takes me just less that ½ a tank to go the 195 miles. Well right about the time it gets to the ½ mark all of a sudden light comes on the dash to check gauges. I look and the fuel gauge is at empty and the DIC says low fuel. I push the fuel button and run through the readouts. Getting 25 mpg average and 28 instant but there is no reading for the millage left.
I pull into a station to check it out thinking that maybe I hit something in the road and it punctured the tank and drained it out. No hole or anything dripping so I filled her up only took 10 gallons. Got back in the car started her up the gauge flashed to full then went back to empty. As I was driving out of the station it slowly moved to full. I’m thinking that the fuel level switch may be going bad.
I have a code searcher would it have thrown a code for this issue?
Typical gunked-up fuel sensor. Use Techron fuel treatment, for up to 20 gallon size, perferably Techron Plus. May need a second treatment. Then use only a Top Tier gas, see toptiergas.com

I use Techron Concentrate Plus yearly as a preventative measure.

Thanks I'll get some and put it in the tank.
I only buy either Exxon, Shell & Valero. I try to switch off every tank.
