hello all, I have a stock 1999 C5 and I just purchased Z16 wheels/tires (2004 Z06 sizes). My question is about putting my old tires (which are in great shape) on my new rims (which currently have tires that almost need replacing).
I believe the new wheel sizes are (stock Z06 sizes) 18X10.5, 17X9.5
my old tire sizes are: 275/40ZR18, 245/45ZR17
So, can I put them together? Is it a good idea? Is it better to run wider tires on my C5 (I never really had a problem with my old ones breaking lose, especially the fronts)? Should I buy new Z06 size tires for the rear and put my tires on the front?
thanks

nice wheels. i have the same. im running stock size tires (not oem tires) on mine and i have the same size wheels as you do. no problems and ive been on them for 15k miles. i actually like the look better than the straight up and down look of the side wall with stock size tires. with wider tires you will get more grip but i choose not to go this route for cost issues. hope that helps you a little
thanks, sounds like I will also do that since it would save a me buying a new set of tires for these wider rims. i currently have the wheels with the z06 stock tires that they came with (close to needing replacement) and i noticed that my previous tires grip better (sumitomo in stock c5 coupe size) because of the better tread.
any other opinions? if i should spend the extra money and buy the wider (z06) size tires, I will , but i'd rather not.
