Default WTF, sucking slurping sound

Replaced my intake manifold and installed a vararam at the same time, now I am getting a sucking sound slurping sound, anybody got any ideas? Sounds like it may be comming of the manifold area but not quite sure. My check engine light is on not quite sure how to check codes.

To check codes, with the engine running, hold the "Options" button on the DIC and press the "Fuel" button four times. It will cycle through the codes. Anything suffixed with an "H" means it's a historic code and not currently set. The codes ending with a "C" are current codes.

HERE's a good doc explaining the codes and how to interpret them.

Did you make sure to reconnect the hose from the brake booster to the back of the manifold?

Post back with your findings.

with the engine running

You should read codes with the key in the "on" position but not with the engine running.

Nice write up.

I cheated and just got my ODBII scanner today.

For some reason neither the Explorer or Grand Prix will display codes using the Corvette instructions.

Well, since it is a current code it will likely reappear. But there is no harm done in resetting the codes.

As you probably know, the P0141 code indicates an Oxygen Sensor issue, which wouldn't seem to be related to the recent work done on your car. The P0410 code refers to the AIR System...I found this THREAD and this THREAD on other forums; maybe they will help or someone more knowledgable will chime in. From reading these posts is sounds like the codes are related...not sure if installing the manifold or Vararam could have anything to do with it, though.

Let us know how it goes!

Based on those codes, you need to go back over your work...specifically the security and connections in the AIR system. My guess is, you have left a hose loose from the AIR pump to driver side bank union.

One other thing you may check is whether the a/c is blowing out of the correct vents (i.e. floor when set to floor, front vents when sent to front vents, etc). If it's not working properly, the small hose that connects to the back of the manifold may be loose and could be throwing the P0410 code.

Assuming you did the job correctly. I noticed the same new "sucking" sound after I installed the VaraRam.

Thanks guys for all the info, took a 500 mile cruise this week-end after resetting DIC, got the P 0410 code after a couple of hundred miles of driving. Will re-tork manifold and see if it resolves the code issue.

Actually, the DTC system will work either way. I read and reset codes "on the fly" sometimes. Try it sometime.

Have you checked all the AIR connections?
