Can anybody give me some advice please. I need a pcm for a turbocharged LS1 which I am building. I can use my existing Motec which has a 3 bar MAP sensor (it all takes time to map though) or I am tempted to buy and use the factory pcm but with some sort of a piggy back device for when the cars running on boost. This way I would have a whole lot less programming to do and I could easily rig up traction control when I find the hardware. I figure that theres already something suitable in the States that perhaps I dont know about. Can anybody recommend anything that might be suitable. Thanks. One other thing, this will sound daft but have any carb manufacturers offerred a carb manifold for the LS1 that could be used by rodders who dont want to use injection? :seeya
I believe Haltech make a unit called the E6GM that plugs into the stock harness. It uses all the stock sensors, but is still a replacement rather than a "piggy back" unit.
And yes tuning any of these stand alone units is a royal pain in the ****! Its much easier to do on an engine cell than while driving around.
I'd stick with the Motec and try to find someone with a base map for you to start from.
Thanks for your input Rob. I need to know more about products like the Hypertech units or LS1 Edit. Im sure there must be something which could give me the best of both worlds. If not then I shall stick with the Motec. Mike :seeya
