I read the string about the V1 vrs the world and it brings to mind a question or two. I had my Escort Solo (along with my cell phone) stolen from daily ride last weekend. I was very happy with its operational ability with the exception of the AA battery usage since it is (was) the cordless model. I definately want to replace it but now I'm wondering about the stealth/radar blockers that are becoming more popular these days. Has anyone had any experiences with these units? Any plus's or minus's I should know about. BTW, if I were to purchase another detector I would buy another Solo...
Thanks all............

Great question. I would like to add to this if anyone considers responding.
I have a V1 already, but would like to add a radar/laser jammer to help protect against those 'instant ons'. I've noticed more and more police using laser, which the Valentine is helpless against. Does anyone have any experiences with these? And what model do you have?
Also, speeding is illegal, so I'm not too concerned about whether a jammer is illegal in my state. Its the lesser evil IMO.
Federal law (FCC): You cannot transmit without a license unless you are transmitting on a frequency that does not require a license. That's why most jammers (that REALLY work) are illegal. You can buy plans to make your own (illegal) jammer.
Many jammers operate below the 5mW of output, so they can be sold wihtout FCC licensing. There are several that work. The FCC wouldn't ever approve a jammer, hence the loophole. Now, additional power would give you more range, etc... Most jammers simply detect the radar signature and then begin transmitting random signals (600mph, 4mph, 20mph, 999mph, etc...). The Rader gun's own discriminator logic sees this as noise or an error and discards the reading, hence the cop gets no readout for you. The C5 is nice as it offers a little more protection because it has such a low radar cross-section.
