I just had the local chevy house put a B&M shifter on my 02 Z06. So far I havent really like the feel of it. I like the short though but the firmness and noises are rideculous.
It makes alot of noise shifting from 2nd to 3rd(Like a pouiiiish noise). Is that normal? And is the 3 times firmer than stock normal?
Low gear down shifts are harder to engage as well.
I had my speed shop fix that vibration issue on my B&M.That noise is caused by the metal bushings you get with the B&M shifter. They isolated the noise by using rubber around the bushing.I could not see exactly how the shop did it. I think they cut pieces of rubber from a hose and put them under the bushings so that there is no metal to metal contact. It is as quiet as the stock shifter now and far superior than stock.
I just took mine off because all that stuff doesn't go away. Just the way it is. Sometimes you may have to use your leg to assist in getting that thing in reverse as well. Swapped mine out in favor of the new Z06 shifter.
The noise is likely not going to go completely away because the factory rubber shield doesn't really fit the B&M shifter all that well. I removed my Momo shift **** to alleviate a lot of noise from my unit, it is much better now.
Are you still running the factory fluids in the tranny and rear?
Did you get the new design or the original old one?
