Default Heads up display problem

I have an 2002 C5 and my heads up display is intermittent. Sometimes I turn on the car and I have just 2 dash marks displayed and other times it is working as advertised. It can work all day and then not work the next morning. I took it in for service and they said the unit is bad but I'm like then why does it work some of the time. It worked 45 min's after I left service and worked fine for 2 days. Wondering if it is a wiring problem. Anyone else ever see just 2 dash marks?

I've got a 02 Z and never experienced what you describe. It sounds like an pending electrical failure. Something is making a conncection most of the time and for some reason it breaks connection occasionally. sounds like the dealer might be correct.... Never seen the dash marks. good luck

The HUD connects to the IP Cluster via a small ribbon cable. If its coming loose then thats it otherwise, the electronic unit inside the HUD is probably dying.

Default HUD is fine

Dashes are the HUDs way of saying "I'm working, but I'm not getting communication from the cluster, so I don't know what to show." Check if the up-down and dimmer are working when it acts-up. Could be a loose HUD connection at the cluster...
