The BeCool radiator was installed in my car 9 months ago and has done a nice job of keeping things cool. But today we dicovered the radiator has a leak and must be replaced (further details on the leak after we get it out of the car). I can get a new radiator under their warranty, but don't want to keep swapping radiators if they tend to have leaks. Has anyone else out there had a problem with a leaking BeCool?
Have had mine for a year with no problems. I would think that the stock hoses would work fine. I didn't do the install myself, had it done the same time as the SC and a bunch of other mods.
Re: Problems with BeCool radiator? (George Cooper)
The BeCool installation is not a direct swap, but pretty close. Things to be aware of:
1. The BeCool is thicker, and will push the top-front of the plastic shround up and forward. This will produce a gap along the sides where the shroud meets the A/C condenser. Use zip ties to pull the top of the shroud down into position. My (stock) foam rubber that helps seal the gaps along the sides, has come loose at the tops. Still trying to figure out how to keep it in place.
2. If you have an auto trans, the cooler in the right radiator tank can have two different types of fittings. The BeCool is supposed to come with both types its own fittings, and you install the proper ones. Well, mine only came with one (wrong) set. Check that your tranny cooler lines will match the BeCool fittings BEFORE you remove the original radiator.
3. Removing and installing all the air bridge, shrouds, etc is a chore. Just don't think you can do it all in an hour.

Update:
Jegs sent me a new radiator, I get credit for the old one when they receive it back. Fair enough.
The leak is at the top right, looks like where the top crossways "tube" or "runner" goes in to the right radiator tank.
I'll call BeCool and see if they will pick up some of the labor cost involved, but I'm not betting on it.
