I purchased what I thought was corsa indy's with pro tips but today when I went out to meet some other corvette owners I was told that i had the touring. I paid for the indy's but my corsa's were a lot softer then this other person's setup, and another guy said that his friend's car is a lot louder with indy's installed.. I have a vortex and rest is stock, no x-pipe. The green car was stock with vortex and no x-pipe. Same year too... ????
Is there any marks or anything to tell touring setup from indy's???
I have had them on the car for over 8 months now and been to other shows seen and heard other corvettes... Mine are loud but I don't have the screaming move the fxxx out of my way sound... hmm... I kind of like the touring better now that I am use to it but I wonder if I would have rather had the indy's... Kind of pisses me off
Had them both...No physical markings to tell them apart, only the box part number. I put the touring on first and was disappointed with how mellow it was ONLY BECAUSE I EXPECTED MORE. But it was not objectionable. A screw up with the touring gave me the opportunity to exchange them for the Indy's. More aggressive sound at idle and certainly kickbutt at WOT. Interior-wise is exactly the same. I have no idea what it is like from behind so it really makes no difference. Mots say they get louder with time, but our sensation lessens too. We get used to the sound. But I guarantee others hear you goin' away no matter which you have...GeorgeC
Vetterdstr: Can you send me the wav file??? Bluewasp@yahoo.com or is it this file: http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c5/vetterdstr//bwgf.wav ??? I just listened to the bwgf.wav file and I can't tell if they are touring or not.
Also, at idel the green car and my car sounded the same but at like 3 to 4k rpm his got really loud... I mean loud.
I always thought my setup was loud but they sounded like they were lacking something, and I always thought that I might have received the tourings by mistake. To late to fight over it now.. oh well...
That is the Wav file alright. :) Sorry to hear about the mixup with your exhaust. Either way you have a good system on your car. :yesnod:
vetterdstr
Hmm.. NOt really sure if the "supporting" vendor here will do the exchange after having them on the car for 8 months, but then again it wasn't my fault. Would they even believe me? Hmm... If not they will never get any of my business again.
Bluewasp,
Don't know if you'll get the help you're looking for, but, go to Tom Miller at CORSA.
You can reach him at tmiller@corsaperf.com, a straight up guy who sold me my Indy's, you might get lucky.
Sean at LAPD just responded to my e-mail. He said that since I purchased them back in april of 01 that they can't exchange them, and the invoice has the indy part number. If I have the tourings then there would have been a packaging error at the factory and I need to call corsa... I am going to a local corvette club bowling night. I will check out a few more systems.
The problem is I don't drive the car enough and I need to hang-out more with my fellow corvette owners! :D
I just listened to the real audio files on the corsa site and I the touring withOUT a doubt..
vetterdstr...And that was in your diveway too!
 Yep, it is a heck of a Driveway too!! 21 turns and 3 miles long!! AKA Buttonwillow Raceway!!! The #1 straight away was where that was filmed at over 100 MPH as I drive by!!
