My rear end is leaking and its not my axles seals, i have cleaned the rear end and over night i can see it dripping right where the trans and axle meet. Is there any other common places in the rear that leak on these cars? My car is a 2001 Z06. It almost looks like its coming from the top of the trans but cannot see up there. I dont want to take the rear end apart so any help is appreciated.

I assume you mean "where the trans and differential meet". I would uses some degreaser..brake clean, etc. Clean the area, and wipe it down so you can ascertain the orgin of the leak.
I have cleaned with degreaser and cannot see exactly where the leak is coming from. Is there something in between the trans and "differential" where they meet that can leak? Is there something common that leaks back there other than the axles seals?
C5s are known for leaky butts.
Is this the problem?
The differential can leak from the side covers. The problem has to do with the design. The lip on the casing is not wide enough to create a proper seal with the cover. Resealing the covers can be successful, but many dealers do not use the correct sealant.
Read my post http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=2159535 You need to be more specific in order for us to help you,, When you describe a leak.. What exactly is leaking.. Trans Fluid, Rear end gear oil, engine oil... I'm currently waiting on the dealership to replace the factory transmision rear housing, which is porous, thus just putting a new seal in would not solve the problem as the porous aluminum just seeps out oil,, also making it difficult to pinpoint the leak.. Read my post and look at the TSB that motoman posted that was put out by GM.. This could be the problem. This defect of porous housing includes the Ls1 and LS6 engines as well as many others.. This is a factory defect from problems in the molding process.. This does not mean all LS1 and Ls6 models have this defect... Its a $1400 fix at the dealership if you are out of warranty.. My extended warranty is paying for it

There is an O ring that seals the differential to the trans mainshaft. I don't know how common it is going bad, but it is the only seal for that area.
