Would I be correct in assuming that if I build my LS1 to Tony Mamo's setup of the 205 heads, the cam , fast 90/90 and long tubes I would never pass Calif. smog? I read the artical that this is on his own Z06 and he is in Calif. How does he get away with it?

Good ole Komi Kali has a visual as well as the emissions test. Only a set of approved headers will pass (shorties). He may have some one who is willing to help him out. Give him a call.
I know the heads are good, but without the rest of the parts it just will not get me there,
"500 hp" I was just looking to the alternitive to a supercharger, I know andy at A&A has the setup that is CARB legal but feel that the H/C N/A setup is more reliable. Thanks for the input.
Ok had another thought. What do you guess you could see with AFR 205's a cam bigger than stock but would pass, a LS6 intake,"I think you can pass with it too" and shorty headers,"I have those and already passed".

To get to 500 RWHP you will need more than a H/C pkg
But you can easily get to 450 with an N/A set up and still be very streetable.
I was able to get my car to pass the visual problem with lt's but it was the sniffer part that failed. They ran it twice and it was barely over both times. I don't have a tune, but I don't know if that would make a difference though.
I have long tube headers and have had mine smoged twice at two different stations without any problem at all. 15 minutes, $40 and gone. I even was at a third location with no questions and their machine broke down before the certification was complete so I went to another location down the street and passed.

Again it depends on the mods, but it can be tuned for acheiving the smog test and then tuned again to set up for best performance. The two may not be the same.
I put on American Racing long tube headers, x pipe and cats and had the car dyno tuned and it really did make a big difference in power. It was pretty expensive though.
