Default C5 Clutch Problems

I see that there has been a lengthy thread (that was closed) on this topic already but I felt a conclusion was never reached:

The Clutch in my 99 seems to stick or feel spoungy immediately after I drive it hard or do some hard shifting under heavy acceleration. It feels fine under normal driving conditions. It started when i did a hard dry burnout when I got pissed off at Sonic for closing early . The pedal actually stuck to the floor and I had to lift it off with my toe. Afterwards the pedal seemed very soft for half of the stroke. The next day it was fine. But when I drive it hard I can feel it coming back. I don't think its the fluid temperature because it has done it once shortly after I cranked it, before my engine got up to running temp.

Is it a fluid, seal, pressure plate, clutch assembly, or master cylinder problem? (You can see my confusion.) And if you were one of the people who had this problem what was the ultimate fix?

Usually, fluid. Bleed the system and it should be fine. I'm surprised that you didn't find it while searching 'cuz it's been talked about... a lot.
If you find it still doesn't work correctly, you'll have to replace the slave cyl.

Most likely there will be one of two possible fixes for this sticky clutch problem.

Either

A. Fluid change / hydraulics
B. Pressure plate / disc

According to all the people who have had problems its one or the other. Some can just bleed the system with fresh fluid and it goes away, and others (like me) have tried everything but ended up being the pressure plate.

Good luck and let us know.
