Default Tire sensor question!!

I have noticed that occasionally when I get in my car and drive my lft front tire sensor will act up and either tell me my tire is flat, low, or to high. If I turn off the car and start it back up it goes away. I guess this may be a sign that the tire sensor is going bad or something else possibly. Any Suggestions?? I have read that you really can't buy just one sensor! Is that true?

Thanks!!

I thought someone posted, in an earlier thread, that the sensor life was around 5 years. Maybe it's just time to replace them? :( Not sure if you can only get 1 though. Might be best to just replace all 4.

I would think the "sensor life" is really the life of the integral lithium battery. But the sensors are only transmitting when the wheels are turning.

Over 30k miles, with an average speed of 40 mph, those transmitters are on about 750 hours. Without knowing the current consumption of the transmitters, it's hard to say what the battery life would really be.

I wonder if those transmitters can be cracked open to replace the batteries.

The components are imbedded in epoxy resin. you can break it apart but you will destroy it in the process.

What is the cost of a set of sensors? And do you suppose they are covered under (extended) warentee?
