Default Loud Engine exhaust after mods ??

I have a 2002 ls1 6sp. I recently had a cam install w/new roller rockers, timing chain, New valve springs, chrome molly pushrods and ported oil pump with a dyno tuned. My exhaust is Dynateck with Borla stinger setup. My car had a nice rumble before but after the work was completed it roars even at idle. Is this common? My cam is comp .228, .232, .612 lift LSA 111. Not a wild cam just nice for the street. It's putting out 392 HP at the wheels and 374 Torque. I'm very pleased with the results. My question is will the engine be noticeably louder, is this normal? Why???? Thanks for your time...

I say: yes
Reason: A cam changes the rate at which your pistons fire, hence, creating a different sound.

Classical Glass- I noticed your post and I was thinking about adding a performance cam like yours next year and I see that you're local- Rochester.

Can you pm me - I've like to find out who did your install and hear how your car sounds..

So let me get this straight, you put a cam in your car, resulting more lope 111LSA, and cam only hp near 400 and didnt expect it to get louder?

Your moving much more air through the engine, with an aftermarket exhaust thats always possible...

I just put a Z06 titanium exhaust on big cammed, longtubed no cats car, and it sounds like slightly louder than stock.. Kinda disappointed me as for I like it wild.

Im probally going to do the bypass mod or trade out

The 111 LSA isn't helping your noise problem.

Wrong.

Here is a basic explanation of camshafts, which will help you understand what exactly you just had done to your motor, and why it's louder (especially at idle).

Yes, it will be a lot louder. The 111 LSA is adding to the lope and the high lift is not helping things either, at least IMO and I'm no expert. While the duration is kind of medium, the LSA and lift are more extreme. I had a high lift cam and switched to a cam with just about the same duration, but a more common lift and a 114 LSA vs a 112 I think it was. The sound is a lot more pleasing to me, and it does better on the track as well as around town. A tune will also help.

I would suggest getting a stock z06 Ti exhaust, it will sound a lot better IMO. It may take a couple of HP away, but it will sound better.

Do you have a CAI? That will add to the loudness. I just replaced my air box lid with a z06 era one, I had been running the zip tie mod (i.e. no air box lid). It quieted down it down, I was surprised.
