Lexan top

If they don't know it just tell them the problem is the clear coat fouled and it needs to be replaced.
I did that and it worked perfectly for $145.00.
They do that for a living. Don't sand it all down yourself only to take it to the body shop for another final sanding and clear coat.
Do a search on Acrylic Micro-Mesh, these kits are VERY high grit sandpapers that will bring a plastic (Lexan) back to crystal clear. I used this on a very scratched up acrylic aquarium one time and was able to bring it back to like new, crystal clear as new glass. They make the kits for electric sanders too.....you basically just keep go higher and higher grit until you are almost using a peice of leather. I have a friend that repairs commercial aquariums and he turned me on to these kits.
BUT if the damage is ONLY to the clear coat, don't mess with the Lexan.
