My new 2001 coupe (A4) makes a single loud knocking sound when
accelerating from a stop. It happens about 80% of the time and at
normal acceleration. It sounds like it is coming from the rear of the
car and does not occur at any other time, only from a dead stop.
Has anyone heard of a similar problem? The car is still under
warranty
Suggest taking the tech for a ride and demonstrating the problem to him. Better than dealer personnel flailing on the car themselves. Plus two in the car permits the tech to listen and pinpoint while you drive.
