I have a '99 FRC with a 6-speed manual. Whenever I am in 4th or 5th gear at about 1500rpm and begin to roll into the throttle, I hear a noise coming from the left bank of the engine that sounds like an exhaust leak. GM has replaced the exhaust manifold, gaskets, and H-pipe...all to no avail. Their tech service department hinted toward a detonation problem, and had the dealer reset the engine parameters...still not fixed.
That is a very tough situation. Obviously GM has conceeded that there is a problem by replacing the gasket and h pipe (doesn't mean they have tried to solve the problem though, swapping parts is GM's mode of operation)
If you don't get the answer here, there is no answer. There are some very smart people on this forum.
Wisdom on the forum, look elsewhere.I sure hope the many brilliant people on this forum which is a true gift and wonderland of Vette knowledge can help your dealer fix your problem. As usual they take the shotgun approach its great for them because they bill GM full flat rate.Best of luck.David S.
