Default Active Handling issue.

So a few months ago I bought a '98 vert. About a month ago, I hit the corpse of a dead armadillo I had no way to avoid (on coming traffic in other lane, etc.) When it happened, it set off the service active handling message in the DIC. After shutting off the car and starting it back up, I didn't see it for a while.

Recently, the message has been becoming more frequent. I know I have been driving it harder, as I am more comfortable with it now. I confirmed today that as soon as I hit 5k rpms, the steering wheel jerks slightly and then trips this service active handling message. It always happens at 5k. If I put it in competitive driving mode and slide around corners. Active handling becomes active and works flawlessly, keeping the car under control. If I hit it and head for the limiter, it will trip the service message at 5k.

Any thoughts?

Ok, I was finally able to look up the DIC codes.

I'm seeing two, maybe related.

C1282 Yaw Rate Sensor Bias Circuit Malfunction
and
U1096 Loss of Communications with IPC.

What gears are you in when it trips the message at 5K? What speed is being indicated? The C1282 code is a voltage related problem that could indicate a problem in the EBTCM or the yaw sensor. Have has anybody been working on the radio or in the vicinity of the radio recently? The sensor is mounted below the radio.

Seems to trip mostly in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The Speed varies. We did play with the radio recently, I will pull it all apart and make sure nothing is loose.

Thanks Bill.

man, it was already dead. All I remember is cringing as it make this wonderful crunching noise from the front to the rear of the car. We put it up on the lift a couple days later and there was blood from the front to the back and some guts here and there.

just nasty stuff.
