Default Problems with ABS

I have a 2000 and the anti skid and traction control does not work. I have a message on the DIC everytime I start that says Service vehicle soon. I brought it to a reputable mech who says my abs modulation pump is bad. There is one on ebay from a 99, will this part work on my 2000? Any input on the subject would be appreciated.

I take it you are talking about the Brake Pressure Modulation Valve (BPMV). From your post it sounds like your car does not have the active handling option ( RPO JL4). It is probable a non Active Handling module from a 2000 will work on your car as major changes in the systyem did not occur until 2001. There is one other thing to consider. If the module on eBay is from an Active Handling car you would need to verify it would work on a non-Active Handling car.

You indeed have active handling and traction control... you need to pull the codes to find out where the problem lies. How did your mechanic determine it was the pump and not the control module.. the pump rarely goes bad, but the control module does.. You dont want to replace the pump and still have the same problem. Pull the codes and post them.

Default More info on ABS problem

I do have jl4. my mech, who specializes in vettes said there where no stored codes. If it was the module that was bad would I not have a different message on the DIC? I saw my mech. , I know it is not high tech but.., tapping the motor with a punch and hammer to free it up. Again, I have a 2000, will a 99 work if indeed it is the problem? If the electronic mod is bad do you loose both ABS and traction control? I know the module overhaul is an easy and relatively inexpensive repair, I do not know if I should go against the advise of my mech, who is pretty sharp with vetts. He wants $1500 parts and labor to replace the motor. If it is the motor is it a wet job, will bleeding be required? One more piece of info, He told me it keeps blowing a 40 amp fuse under the hood when he installed a new fuse. Would a bad module do that? Thanks for the help, Mike.
