Default Heater Fan

I just pick up a 1999 Fix roof coupe today and the heater fan doesnt work.

Just wondered if anyone has had this problem and what to start looking at first.

The fan seems to be doing nothing at any speed range or direction setting.

Thanks,
RJ Sottile

I'll take "the fan" for $200. Check power and ground to the fan. Play close attention to the warning in the service manual to avoid getting zapped.

Well, start with whatever fuse runs it as well as its own electrical connection to insure its still connected. If the fuse is blown, you might want to remove it and make sure no critters have made a nest in there and jammed it. Several people have reported mice getting in there however you would have probably detected the odors.

Just looked at mine today, the bearings seem to be going. It is behind the the glove box under the kick panel. There is a warning to disconnect the power supply. Should not be too hard a job, just tight working space on your back. There seems to be 2 differnt fans depending on if you have the dual zone or manual heat\air system.

If your hvac is a manual system it is probably the resistor that controls the fan speed. It is attached to the blower housing. Unless the fan has been making a lot of noise I would change out the resistor. They are not expensive, about $30 I think.
