Calling C5 techs... Need help with tire pressure sensor questions!!
1. Do I have to completely take my old tires off the stock rims to get the sensors off? Can I just deflate and break the bead to get to them? Maybe just partially remove the tire from the rim to get to them? This one was partially answered
2. Is there any special technique that has to be used when breaking down the tire from the rim to avoid damaging the sensors? How about when mounting the new tires on the new rims??
3. Due to a minor oversight at Xtreme, I didn't get new o-rings with my wheels. Can I reuse my old o-rings? Is it true that Z06 wheels use different sized o-rings than standard C5 sized rims?
4. Can I install chrome valve stems on the sensors???

2. I'd look for a tire shop with lots of experience mounting Vette wheels... because it can be tricky.. its very easy to damage a sensor when mounting tires.. stay near and watch 'em like a hawk!
3. Reusing the o-rings is asking for a leak... even if you could use the original (size) o-rings in the Z wheel. I don't know for sure but I think there is a different o-ring that is used in that (Z06 application the hole for the stem is bigger) to make it work right.
4. No you can't install chrome valve stems... the aluminum stems are part of the sensor... in fact I've read where using chromed caps can cause trouble (dis-similar metal) where the caps become stuck on the stem and turning them with a wrench actually will break the stem out of the sensor assembly....yikes... I suppose some anti-sieze compond would prevent that from happening...
Good Luck!!

Second: For OEM Z06 rims (that´s what I have) you definitely need bigger o-rings. For some aftermarket Z06 chromies you may use the original small ones (as written here in some threads).
Last not least: I´m getting crasy here, snow and ice and no way to race my new Z06 wheels on the autobahn :mad
