Default Help w/ Seat Memory

For some reason when I put the key into the ignition, the car automatically goes to Seat Setting #2. How can I change it back so it defaults to #1? Thanks.

did you recently change remotes? I think I read in the manual that if will remember which remote is used to unlock the car and then move to whichever preset is setup for that fob.

are you using the easy entry feature? if so you might want to turn it off before it damages your carpet or breaks the seat track...but aside from that...it should automatically move you back to whatever preset was last used.

I think he meant that if.....

YOU. #1 sit close to the wheel with the back at a 45* decline.

YOUR GIRL. #2 sits far back cause she has long sexy legs but at a more of a 90* angle on the back.

If she goes to setting 2 while the back being at 45* the seat will move all the way back and the back of the seat will hit and probably break.

I used it when I first bought my car, I found that it moves the seat strait back but doesn't raise it up at all. I like my seat to be as low as it can get when I'm in driving position, but I want it to raise all the way to make it easier to get out. the easy entry only moves the seat back, not up. so if you have your seat at a low position, when you move it back it will drag the linkages under your seat across the carpet. my seat had no rear up and down adjustment when I first bought it. I could hear it doing something, but the rear of the seat did not move up or down. the front would, that's it. the first time I pulled the seats out I found out all about it. the linkage which moves the seat up and down was broken off, and there was a section of the carpet under the seat that was ripped all the way though, there's actually a hole left from where the rear adjuster ripped through the carpet.

now I have my preset #1 programmed for driving positoin, and #2 set for get out position, #2 moves the seat all the way back and all the way up so the linkage doesn't rip through the carpet anymore. it cost $500 to put a new seat track on! It seems to me the C5's seats really don't fit in this car for some reason. as you move forwards and backwards they rub against the seatbelt mechanism cover and make a horrible noise, the linkages dig into the carpet if you move back while the seat is all the way down etc. terrible design in my opinion. I guess every car has to have a down side.

I'll look and see if I have a picture of it.

no problem!
IIRC I believe it goes by the order with which you match the fobs to the car, when you go through the procedure of matching the fobs whichever one you do first becomes #1 and whichever you do second becomes #2. the info is in the owners manual, so if you want to switch them just re-match them to the car in the order you want.

Or you can turn the FOB around and look to see which one is engraved with the numbers 1 or 2. I got 2 FOBs with my car. One is numbered 1 and the seat responds accordingly. And one is numbered 2 and the seat responds accordingly.

Sidenote: Are those long sexy legs you mentioned attached to a nice Eastern European lady??? *flashbacks*

I went back to using #1 FOB and it defaults to seat position #1.
