Default Lg headers

I am installing LG headers on a friends 2000 c5. I have to say this is a pain in the *** job.The install sheets are not complete. The headers are in finally but they gave us the wrong ext harness for the front o2 sensors. Also the gave us a new air tube that goes behined the intake manifold with out an install sheet. It looks like you have to take the maniflod off to put it on.
Anybody have a tips a trick list to do this?Or has anybody installed these and can help me out.
thanks
Mitch

actually i think your to use the rear o2s in the front bungs and use the adapter harness to plug into the front locations/ you tune out the rears and plug them the air tube has one bolt holding it to the driver side head a real pain to get to

Well i found out you have to buy 2 new rear o2 sensors to replace the front ones @ about 150.00 each. That was not told to him when he bought them from lg at carlisle. Now i still need help with this AIR tube.
How do you get to the bolt on the head to remove the tube.
From the top bottom or drill a hole thru the dash into the fire wall lol.
Any idea's?

Is there a reason why you don't want to contact LG? What is the addtional AIR tube for? Are the headers you have installed not for the year car?

Having installed many headers systems, the LG make great power. LG designed their headers to fit 2001 and newer, that's why you also have the additional air tube for you 2000. You will need to remove the intake manifold to to install the new airtube which will line up with the header tube on the passenger side. it's about a 3 beer job.

Mitch. the AIR tube fitting is on the 4th header tube on the '98-'00, and was moved to the 3rd header tube on the '01-'04, necessitating a new longer AIR tube.
MOST header manufacturers make both styles; if LG only offers the later style header (????????) then you do have to replace the AIR tube to mate up with the header fitting. Replacing this tube definitely involves removing the intake manifold in order to get to the bolt on the rear of the head. Even with the intake removed, getting the bolt out and back in with the new tube is one of the most awkward jobs I have done on a C5.

not bad...just crack that bolt loose on the back of the head and lift up....luckily its slotted so you can take it out from there....i say rip all that crap out and put blockoff plates on....cleaner install, less weight, and easy plug changes....btw why the hell did you pay 150 a pop for 02 sensors

I put on a set of street series headers about three months ago and it sounds like you're making a mountain out of a mole hill. I cut my air fittings off(you don't "need" that crap) and reused my O2 sensors and everything works fine, no re-tune just bolt up and go. You may have to use a lil muscle to get the passenger side on and find someone with edit or tuners to turn your codes off

What's the best way to get that passenger side header in? I've pulled the starter and bellhousing inspection cover. I've got the car two feet off the ground, but I cannot get the rearward port past the ear on the block. Been working on this car for four consecutive days doing a clutch install and many other little things and my brain is mush.

Mitch is right, LG's install instructions suck. Please help! The Red Bull and Marlboros aren't working anymore....

Don't know for sure since I installed ARH. But by any chance does that side have to go in from the top?

i put the pass side in thru the top.you will have to take out the coil pack bolts and move it up.Both of the old maniflods came out thru the top with the alt flip out of the way.Well i finished the car last night by installing the new o2 i spoke about. Now the air tube trick attach the drivers side as normal and on the pass side cut the tube and use a 1/2 high heat hose.Works great and looks like the drivers side with the metal into rubber hose.
thanks to everybody for there help and comments.

Mitch,

Thanks for the advice. 12 man-hours later, mine is done too. Installed a new RPS stage III with aluminum flywheel, LG streets, plugs, wires, fresh fluids throughout, general maintenance and clean-up. Test drive indicates the car's an animal now. Revs up really quick. Lots of smiles after 38 total man-hours for this project. Time for an updated tune.

Glad your project was successful and congrats for doing it yourself.

Regards,

Chris
