Default Battery 101 Help

I posted a few weeks ago a problem with the negative battery post on my Orbital battery. Apparently the post is a little too long which results in a loose cable connection which results in not enough juice getting to the starter. The battery seems to be o.k. otherwise as everything else works (windows, memory seats, etc). So the consensus is to now get a shorter negative battery post. Car starts when the battery has a good charge but if a little weak not enough current gets to the starter.

Do I disconnect neg and pos cables then just un-screw the neg post?

Do I need to have the "radio code" so that I don't loose the radio after I disconnect the battery?

Where can I get different sized battery posts? Any auto parts store such as Kragen, Napa?

Hope I get a passing grade

Just take out the negative bolt and file or grind a bit off. no need to disconect both just make sure you always take off the ground (the one going to the frame) first.
you could probably just put a couple of washers under the bolt head instead of grinding or fileing the bolt

I think the washer idea is a much better suggestion than filing or grinding the batt cable bolt.

Any particular type of washer? I assume a regular metal type would be o.k.

I just went into my radio setup and made sure my radio code was not set just to be safe when I was gonna power down for something. My radio code even on/set when I checked it anyway.
