Default Oil Pressure questions!!!

My oil pressure gauge has been acting up. The needle will be pegged all the way to the right indicating the highest oil pressure possible, then after driving it for a bit it will drop to ZERO! Then after another while, guess what... it will sweep all the way over to the right again!! I'm guessing the oil pressure sensor is jacked but dont really know...
Any ideas out there in Corvette land??? Thanks for any help!!!!

These crazy indication issues are almost always a bad oil pressure sending unit. Next time your OP guage pegs at 80, cycle your DIC to it's oil pressure reading, and see if it says 130 PSI there. Also, make a note of whether this happens even when the engine isn't running (but with key in the "on" position). Generally, when these fail the needle stays pegged, but it can fluctuate wildly as well. Plus, considering these things fail often, it's a safe bet that you've probably got a wonky sensor. It happens.

They run something like $40 from the Forum vendors and you can do it yourself if you have an afternoon, some tools, and a beer. The sticky up top has links to the how-to's on this.

Good luck!

Ready sticky at top.

Remote sending unit is the answer. If you don't believe it spend 2 plus hours replacing sending unit and find that the new unit you replaced is bad and you have to start all over.

It is a small dwarf or troll behind the gauge. Common problem with the C5. Chevy part #24536, special tool for removing said dwarfs.
