I just got a 2003 C5 with 6,300 miles. It has never been serviced, the owner passed on and the car just sat there.
anyway i want to make sure that the car has it's most recent updated to the computer. and don't know how to get it done.
I can't find any recalls for this car on your site, so I guess theres no need to take it to a dealer. I;ve been told that the warenty time has run out on this car and nothing will be covered by GM.
the Car runs great and no problems, but i would like to get the computer up todate, IF NESSESSARY
Take it to a dealer and have them run a service history on the car. That will tell you and them where the car stands in regards to any computer updates.
Otherwise why fix what ain't broke.
My 98 has not seen a dealer 7 years and personaly I wouldn't want them touching the computer if it did happen to be unfortunate enough to end up in one.
hello, service history showns one oil change and knothing else. my thinking was that GM has fine tuned it's updated's in the last 5 years, therefor making the car run at optimum preformance.
yes, I do agree with why fix what ain't broke, but in this respect could updating the computer have a negitive affect?

Yes they could make it WORSE with any Column Lock Recalls. I'd leave it ALONE!
But I have a 2003 automatic (A4). does that still apply
Column lock doesn't apply. If you really want to get better performance out of the car, take it in to one of the forum tuners for a dyno tune. Automatics benefit greatly from dyno tunes.
