Default automatic transmission question

Is there any reason an automatic transmission out of a 2000 vette wouldn't work in a 2001 vette? I've been told the only difference is electronics. Would like to verify before purchasing

No difference, for a while I had a transmission from a 97 in my 04 coupe, and right now I have a trans from a 2000 installed.

The electronics are only specific to your PCM.
Transmissions are the same, go for it!

The electronics are specific to the PCM only.

Have you had any transmission trouble with your 2001 vette? The dealer shows a 2001 only on transmission replacement. The salvage yards also show 2001 only but it just really doesn't make sense because I've had several people tell me that it will work.. just want to be certain

No transmission trouble on my 2001 so far stevareno. I did a fluid and filter change at 24K miles, about 2 years ago, and used the new Dexron VI fluid for the refill. I also installed a 4 qt. extra capacity aluminum pan at that time.

There may have been some minor changes, that the Corvette powertrain engineers made to the transmission for 2001, which is why it's listed for 2001 only. Here's a link about the transmission case weight being 3.3 pounds lighter for 2001: http://www.corvettemuseum.com/specs/...erformance.htm
