I have decided to change my wheel and tire combo. I am still going for more of a bold statement so I have chosen the HRE 541s. This is what they look like and I will be going with the same 19' front and 20' rear as these:
The tire width will be 265 front and 315 rear. S03s if they make them in that size or Pirellis if not. I have oredered them from Richard over at Exit 28 ...
Thanks Richard!!
The old wheels will be sold to the first buyer for 3K, that includes tires. The sizes are 18 front with 275/35/18 tires and 20' rear with 285/30/20 tires. The tires are S02 Pole Position and have about 2000 miles on them. Contact Jayson over at MTI for the details.
Many of you have inquired about these wheels. I had a computer failure and have lost all my old E-mails concerning these wheels so I could not notify anyone personally.
With the amount of power you're going to be putting down with the MTI 422 I would highly suggest you get the widest street radial you possible can. Personally I would go with 18x12's (or 19x12's) in back with 345 tires. 20's in the rear may look good but you will experience much less traction and increased wheel hop - especially with the 422. Also a tire with that small of a profile on a 20" rim has very little side wall, which not only drasticaly affects performance but makes the rim very prone to damage on the street from even the smallest pot holes. Just my $0.02. :D
BTW the picture you have posted of Chris Tolberts car is sweet - it looks even better in person.
I thought you had 547's. Must have been someone else.
FWIW, 6 months same as cash on all Firestone/Bridgestone tires. Got my S03's on order. Set of 4 $1070 OUT THE DOOR!!! Plus 30 day free test drive. If I don't like them, I get to give 'em back with every penny, including balancing/mounting charges - refunded, no questions asked. Can't beat that with a Tire Iron. Unfortunately, I won't have my TT by the time the 30 day period expires but at least I'll get an idea of how she'll perform at high speeds or around turns and corners.
I have to agree with "Cajun75". I think your old combo is awesome. More importantly you were the only one with those rims. But either way you can't go wrong!
NoMercy go with 275-30-19 in the front. I am assuming your fronts are going to be 19x9 1/2? That's what I have with 265-30-19 and I will go to 275-30-19 when these wear out.
Great looking wheels, but if you want any chance of getting any of that 422 power to the ground, listen to Godspeed. 18's and lowered would look really hot. Either way they will look very sweet. Congrats.
Cajun, I like the old ones too, I guess I am just looking to change :D. Thanks!!
Godspeed, I thought about doing 18' CCWs with 345 rears and a mini tub but after discussing this with several members, I was told by all that (on street tires) I would never see any decent traction anyway. There are no real race tracks out here. The drag strip pretty much is a waste of time, I would be illegal anyway without a roll cage. So the cars actual purpose will be the odd street race (from a roll :D), car shows and looking cool  With no real practical us I have myself a classic "Dyno-queen" :D :D :D Thanks!!
Ha Ha, Thanks!!
C5Noir, I think you may be right bro!! Thanks!!
BLU, Thanks!!
C5-Vert, The existing wheels are veeeery rare. Another forum member researched them and found that Weld only made three sets   Thanks!!
racer44, :D :D Thanks!!
MDL, Thanks!!
Yellow, Thanks!!
Nasty, I was told that the 275 might be a little big for a 9.5' wheel. I'll check it out!! Thanks!!
Wicked, Thanks!!
flynblu, Power to the ground??  I do not think I'll ever get that :D Thanks!!
Bluewasp, Thanks!!
Topless, That was my original plan. If I were to take it to the track and get serious (roll cage :U ) I can always put on some running shoes :D Thanks!!
HOLY schnikey, these are really nice!! they look absolutely awesome on this black zo6. this is a poster child if i ever saw one. i WANT these rims. this car of mine is going to drain my bank account no doubt
Well, I loved your old wheels but your car is going to look freaky good with those 541's. Man those wheels are bad to the bone! :smash: :smash: :smash:
