I was going to do an PCM swap off a 2000 vette onto a 1998. Does anyone know if these PCM are compatible?
According to the wiring diagrams I have at home the 1998 -2001 pins are all the same.
But according to the advance auto parts website the 2000 pcm is only for 1999-2000, which contradicts what is in my book. Do you think this has anything to do with the options that were added after 1998 like competitive driving mode.
I am stuck in this situation were I keep getting a p0785 which is a transmission 3-2 circuit malfunction. Its purely an electrical issue which has one of three solutions. Solenoid is bad. Wiring is bad. Or PCM is bad.
I have ruled out the first two options based on a step by step diagnosis so I figure I have a bad PCM. The car is 10 years old anyways and has the stock unit.
It's a fair amount of work to upgrade the PCM. The are some great guys in the Jacksonville area that do it at a pretty good price. Ed Hutchings - EDCMAT-L1 - did mine last spring. It was definitely worth it to me. The car runs like butter now.
If i may ask? did you get your car towed over there? and did they tune the 99-2000 pcm to your 98 vin#
