Default Lowering bolt length (???)

I bought my car used. That is important for this discussion because the car was lowered when I bought it. Very low. I assumed it was all the way on stock bolts.

Anyway, I raised the suspension a few months back as i started doing HPDEs and was bottoming the suspension. I turned the rear bolts until it stop raising the car, then turned the front bolts until it was about 1/4 to 1/2 inch lower than the rear.

Next, i just replaced an outer CV boot. Actually my second in a few months. First i bought a remanufactured shaft and it didn't last one weekend on the track. Today I had a GM boot installed on that 'new' shaft.

To my point: I am trying to figure out why this is happening and I can't help but notice since raising the car the spring bolt sticks up a lot. As the car sits there is over an inch of clearance to the boot from the bolt end. But, I have no idea what is happening on the track and if that inch of clearance is reduced to contact with the boot at full travel.

So, I am wondering if my car has lowering bolts and when 'not lowered' they are too long. Any ideas?

Casem, on my stock setting, the rear bolts had about 7 threads showing below the nut. This gave a ht at the fender of about 27 7/8 inch. Fender ht measurement is not exact, but might give you an idea of where you are. The front had a ht of 27 3/8 inches, with about 5 threads showing above the spring.
Do a search; also look in the "other" header above for ht adjustment techniques.
