Did anyone see this show on "Gearz" about a twin turbo kit for the C6 called Ol Smoke? It looks like a bolt on and the twin turbos go in the rear in place of the stock exhaust.
The kit is made by STS http://www.ststurbo.com/ Its been around for a couple of years. I've seen them installed on C5's. If I recall it sells for around $8700

It's a very sweet setup, fairly old episode. some report a lot better luck ( and power ) with the APS twin turbo kit... I'm undecided so far, but also still saving for the vette it's self.
STS is a cool setup but it's not as easy as it looks and there are a lot of "options" that drive the price up quickly and a tune is in order when your done.

Ive got it on my 02 Z06 and its great. I have no complaints about it and its currently at the shop getting a new 402 stroker so that I can turn up the boost to around 12 or 13 lbs and realllllllly boogie.
after doing some looking around I'm beginning to think that I may be better off getting another car... it sounds like the way to go with a turbo is with an automatic as the turbo won't spool up in first and second gear in a 6 speed.
Anybody got an automatic FRC or ZO6 they want to trade for a six speed vert?
As for the claim about not making boost in 1st and 2nd, its total blasphemy. I have the APS kit on my 04 Z06 and the car is insane in any gear. 1st and 2nd are pretty useless even with 305 drag radials on the rear, Im allover the road with traction control off. With the APS kit there is no lag as with the other kits that dont spool up to 3000+rpm.
so how smart is having hot turbos near your gas tank?
How do you figure that, the gas tanks are behind the seats! The STS turbos replace the mufflers. The rear rotors are closer than that, and they can get pretty hot during compititon.
I don't see a problem.

It just has to be set up properly for the car. They used to say that you lost too much in the setups at the rear of the car. It just took someone knowing how to do it right to make it work.

hmmm... I guess that it amounts to just about the same thing - if first and second are "useless" with a properly setup turbo, what's the point? Do you launch in third gear or something?
