Forgive me please, but this is what the throttle system for the C5 ought to be...and it is not servo operated....

OK, not too practical for most of us...but the Camaro LS-x engines got a manual throttle operated by cable. It has much faster response to the pedal and has proven to be VERY reliable.
Performance driving school?...Good idea

Bill
I have a stage 4 transmission kit with high stall TC my old Ford van, It is an AOD 4 speed transmssion, and it is also equipped with Auburn Gear self locking differential......and I manually shift it up and down too when I want to go briskly, ..Engine has a cable operated throttle body with electronic FI. The throttle response time on that old beater 302 system is quicker than what I an get out of the Vette system, even after all the re-programing with LS-1 Edit. In some situations, the Vette can take as long as about a third of second or so to move the throttle...usually quicker, but still noticeable, enough so that when using the throttle to 'steer' the rear wheels it is not really good enough. We were planning all along to buy another C5, M6, just to build out as a weekend fun machine, but economic downturn of the past year has effected our business to where we canceled the construction of the new garage last summer and put off buying more cars. We are now focusing on paying off our existing mortgage and weathering the storm so to speak,,,which has been made more difficult with almost 4K $ in repairs on the Vette in the past 3 months, everything except the new rotors and pads being electronic failures that occurred far too soon in the life of the vehicle. I have owned and still own other cars with much more age or miles in which the electronic systems like engine computers are still functioning perfectly. I just expect more from my Vette...It is such a great mechanical platform ..such a shame it is saddled with short life electronic systems that are in my opinion needlessly complex and expensive to service. I plan of keeping the car going for another 15 years or more....but if it is electrically falling apart so bad at just 10 years age, well,I dunno......I have mentioned before on other posts/threads that one day I might have to just put it up on blocks for a few months and rewire the whole darn thing like a race car, with a high reliability easy to program engine management system and EVERYTHING else on manual switches and aircraft grade breakers. I have done this before many times, partially or in total, on other cars, but am not looking forward to having to do it my Corvette. It would be a daunting project.....FYI, the automatic climate control module failed again yesterday...third time now, but at least it is just a bulb this time and not something major..I can pull it and the radio together, and fix the burned out bulbs in that too...Another day to waste just keeping the junk fixed.
