Default high flow cats...which ones?

I'm looking for inexpensive high flow cats for my C5. I found the Magnaflows on Summit Racing: They have the metal substrate...

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Will these fit my Vette, and are they ok?

What about the cheaper ones with the ceramic substrate? How long will they last?

Also, how much louder will these make my Vette? I have the B&B Bullets.

Cheers, Indy

PS: Any better (cheaper) cats out there that I could look into?

Oh, and one more thing. Where are the oxygen sensors located? On the stock cats, or at a different location? I'm guessing that a universal high flow cat wont have a mounting location for the O2 sensors, right?

Also, what are the pipe dimensions before and after the cats, so that I can order the correct size???? 3" both ways?

Thanks, Indy

Well I'm looking for advice on which ones to get myself, but I can tell you that the O2 sensors are upstream and downstream of the cats. You do need an airtube on the cat, however.

I don't care if the O2 sensors are downstream and upstream (from what I hear, the downstream O2 sensors only measure cat efficiency) Are the sensors located on the cat, or on separate piping (H-pipe...?)? I don't want to take out the cats and start fabricating new O2 sensor locations on the new high flow cat. Also, is the original cat to h-pipe transition offset, or is it straight?
I guess I'll have to crawl under the Vette and see for myself. I was just down there a few days ago when lowering it, but I forgot to look. It's always a pain to get underneath...much easier with my lifted Jeep. I can almost walk under that truck

The Magnaflows do tickle my fancy... They have the metallic substrate...but are they long enough? They're 8" long.

That's what I meant. They're not on the cats themselves. Some kits will include the pipes with the downstream O2 sensors, but I don't think any universal-fit catalytic converter requires you to replace the O2 sensor location to install just the converter. You might consider one of the many kits that includes both cats and bolts right up to your existing exhaust on one or both ends. The cost difference isn't outrageous and it could save you a lot of time and trouble. Magnaflow's 93988 bolts up to the headers and splices in downstream and you can get them for just over $300 if you look around. Random Technology has a full kit including an X-pipe from the headers to the cat-back area for around $700.

I think these are for 2000+ Vettes only. Plus the cats don't look that high flow (maybe just the heat shield).
Bassani and SLP both make high flow direct fir cats (see www.ecklers.com), but they're 400 bucks.
I'll keep looking...

I have Random Tech HiFlow cats, not sure if they are metal or ceramics, you may want to search around and compare them to the others you have found, good luck.
