I have a 2001 C5 and need to replace the rear rotors. How hard is this and what do i need to be careful of if anything. I know there is a wheel sensor somewhere.
Easy. You have to remove the calipers and caliper brackets but other than that, no big deal. Removing the rear caliper bracket bolts can be a pain. They are torqued to ~120 foot pounds. You will likely need an impact wrench or breaker bar to get those loose. No need to replace the bolts with new ones as noted in the shop manual. Nobody does that. Clean them up and put some blue loctite on them and reinstall. Torque to specs. Good luck with it.
Doesn't hurt to soak them with some PB Blaster or WD40 before trying to get them off. Don't forget to remove the little factory retainers on the wheels studs.

Red loctite for the caliper bracket bolts......the factory bolts come with red not blue.
Putting the rear end up on jack stands and chocking the front wheels will help. As stated above, use some penetrating oil along with a good breaker bar. I hung it downward vertically and used my leg to push it loose. Be sure to push the correct way to loosen the bolts.
Overall its not a bad job and you might as well put in pads at the same time. A can of caliper paint in your favorite color will be a nice touch (mine are red).
