Oil Pressure Gauge; Need help

Advice Please!!

My Oil Pressure Gauge went awry. Upon starting the engine it immediately pops over to the maximum “80 psi” position on the right, and remains there. When the engine is shut off it returns to “0 psi.” The needle’s swing over to 80 psi is instantaneous, as if turning on a light switch.

Any advice will save a lot of time in trial and error diagnostics.

I went through three in a mater of 2000 miles. Now the sending unit is relocated so when it goes out again its a five min job.
