To those of you that have upgraded your C5 with Z06 wheels and tires, I have a few questions I could use some help with. Did they bolt right on with no modifications such as alignment? If not, what changes were necessary? Did you use the sensors from your stock wheels? I assume the stock lug nuts were used. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. – C.
I upgraded from the standard silver wheels to the Z06 Chrome C5 sizes. My stock sensors were used but new lug nuts/center cap had to be put in. Mounting and balancing cost me $110 on all 4 wheels, I believe they did not do any alignments.
I upgraded to the Mallett wheels and they bolted on without any problem. No alignment problems. I had to get other lug nuts since the ones on the Malletts are exposed the GM lugs are ugly. I also used the sensors. I had some problem with one sensor, but it was a sensor issue.
When you go get it done, make sure that the tire shop has worked on a vette before. If they have then they will do one wheel at a time and you should not have to retrain the sensors.
I had mine done at discount tire and they did a good job. They were recommended by the dealer.
I guess I should have been more specific. I just bought a set of GM 2002 wheels and want to put them on my 99 FRC using new run flats with the 99 lug nuts and sensors. Would someone who has already done this let me know of anything I should watch out for? Thanks. – C.
