Default Cant break loose crank bolt...

Anyone else have a tougher than normal crank bolt that doesnt wanna break loose?

Any ways of getting it loose? I tried a 600lb impact wrench that doesnt want to budge it....
Oh, and its a 6spd.

Default Try Something Bigger!!

I had to use a 3/4 drive breaker bar with a 4' pipe on the end. I thought I was going to flip the car over, but it finally broke loose.

Good Luck

Eat your wheaties! I had to slip a pipe over the breaker bar for more leverage too, took some huffing and puffing but I got it

Yup, breaker bar + length of pipe + 4th gear + slow and steady pressure.

Glad you got it out safely. There is a more dangerous way that I used long ago on an now very old car. Its just an FYI when all else fails and everything depends on which way the engine rotates. You can use a breaker-bar that is long enough to reach the ground. Therefore getting it on the bolt, other end on the ground and wedged. Disconnecting coil or in our case, coil packs, then touch the starter. If the engine's rotational direction is correct, there's a ton more torque there out of the starter. But, be prepared to suffer other damage to yourself or your car if you run that starter for more than part of a second. Frankly, its way too dangerous to even consider but when all else fails....

All you had to do was heat it a little and you could have screwed it out with a 3/8 drive ratchet.

Here is a handy item for removing high torque bolts from Harbor Freight. You can use a 3/8 ratchet and still remove the center bolt as well as tightening it to 140 deg specs. Hardest thing to remember is to turn the ratchet the opposite way as the nut turns.

TORQUE MULTIPLIER/LUGNUT REMOVER

Creates 30 times more torque than a standard lug wrench, making it easy to loosen overtightened lugnuts.

* Multiplies torque 33:1
* Compact--fits in glovebox or under seat
* Comes with sockets to fit most lugnuts
* Rugged polished chrome steel wrench with beefy 1/2" drive

6 point 1/2" drive sockets: 19mm, 3/4", 13/16", 7/8"; Packed in a vinyl tool roll
Weight: 4.15 lbs.
