Default My tire sensor predicament

First my left front tire gauge says "flat". Check it - it's okay.
Tried a reprogram - goes great until - right rear will not
'beep".
So now I still have the "flat" message and now the right rear registers 0 - what do I do now?

So what is wrong with the rear sensor? Is the battery just dead, so you have to replace it?

I was having no problem with the right rear (it registered fine) until I tried the reprogram. I have no idea why that sensor would not respond to the reprogramming.

for some reason, some tps take longer to register. if it worked before then be patient and stay on it longer with the magnet. try moving the magnet around on the stem (up and down) and near the base. some just take longer. at least, thats the way mine are. by the way, are you holding your mouth right?

I thought I waited quite a while - moved it all around -
do you think it might be the frown?
Thanks I'll give it another try.

Another option: Go to one of your local tire shops and see if they have a programming or retraining tool. It could be your magnet is just not reaching your sensor and the tire shop's tool might be able to do a better job. When you do need new sensors, drop me an email before you buy anything, I can save you some money.

But is the magnet strong enough to penetrate the wheel? The system gives you three tries, or about 45 seconds to train it. Your only option is to try it again and hope for the best or replace it. I guess you could break the tire down, pull the sensor out and try training it again, but that could cost you a few bucks for labor. Good luck...

The magnet is very strong....I don't think that's the problem. I'm pretty sure the front sensor will have to be replaced - now maybe the rear one too. They're 10 years old so I may just replace them all.......

If one is dead, sometimes you cant reprogram the rest (and have them actually report true psi).
I had a RR that was dead, and all the others readings never changed till I got a new one for the RR and reprogrammed them all.

There's your trouble. If all the sensors are 10 years old, I'd be more surprised that some still worked, not that some don't work.

silverminevette, series I sensors (1997-2000) are supposed to last 7 years or 100,000 miles. Drive less than that rate, and they last more years. You have gotten your money's worth (although series I are expensive).

Series II, 2001-2004 last about 10 years and cost less than half as much. Improvements!

You can replace your fobs, your reciever and your TPMSs (whole system) with series II, but you have to do some "wiring" (changing leads in connectors) changes. Do a search.
