I am having problems with my power steering when stopped and at low rpms. It is as if I have no power sterring and have to muscle it a lot to get the wheel to turn.
I have recently had the harmonic balancer replaced where they had to take off the rack. I have gone back and they say everything is OK. I had no problems previous to this. They say that the pump may be going bad. When I first got the car back, the resevoir was too full. I fixed the level, but that didn't help.
Can anyone give me an idea of what this could be or where to start?
Hmmm.....I would think someone else would have answered you, therefore a TTT from me. If air got into the system, then you would need to turn it all the way from side to side, several times to work the air out if I remember correctly. I haven't heard of any PS Pump failures lately either but it certainly sounds like one. I'm going to assume the serpentine belt is on correctly just in case it couldn't be on right anyway.. which I've never heard of. Could someone have put the wrong type of fluid into it and ruined it?
