my '98 leaks around the top and front of windows when washed and driving in a medium to heavy rain. also the passenger window has wind noise coming from where the removable top and windshield seals meet. does anyone know how to fix this or slow it own some. i seen where someone had there windows adjusted to stop this. does anyone know how to do this also. thanks.
I am having the weatherstripping replaced on my car b/c of leakage as well--
Also ask about a "window tip-in" procedure at the dealership... others have said this helped them in similar situations-- I'm not sure exactly how to do it, but maybe someone else will tell you what it entails
I had the same problem. The dealer used silicone in the seals to stop it. I don't know if that is the best solution but, it seemed to work. If I were you, I would try to get the dealer to replace the seals. I still have a little wind noise at higher speeds. I have been adjusting the windows in by moving the window clip in a little. It has helped but, it is still not quite there. Good luck. Let us know what you do to fix it.
I was reading somewhere on the corvetteforum that the windows have an adjustment that moves the top of the window to place more pressure on the weatherstripping. You have to pop off the access panel on the bottom of the door to find the adjustment. :yesnod:
You are talking about the window "tip-in" adjustment. There were some posts about this a few months back - just run the search function and you should find them. The only tricky part is finding the required inverse torx socket for part of the job. It will help wind noise, which was my problem, or water leaks, if the tip-in is really out of whack.
The side roof w/strips are not glued in place from the factory, and water leaking in UNDER the w/strip is very common...Also common is water leaking in UNDER the w/strip retainers...Remove the side w/strips and retainers and seal them with weatherstrip adhesive...Thought I couldnt spell w/strip,didnt ya??? :D
By the way, this also applies to the front windshield w/strip and retainers with the telltale sign being a wet front carpet...Water runs down the inside of the side garnish moldings and onto the floor...This can be observed by simply popping off the garnish moldings and driving in the rain :yesnod:
