CHARGE SYSTEM FAULT light is on!
Does anybody know what causes the charge system fault light to stay on? I replaced the alternater about 1 yr ago and the charge system fault light has been on ever since. The battery is brand new but I do have a system in my car. I disconnected all parts of the system and the battery and left it over night to try and reset the computer but it still pulls that code when I strt the car. HOW DO I FIX IT???

Did you put your year specific alternator into the car, or a generic "one fits all" alternator? IIRC many of the C5 years had their own year specific piece.

Alternator
RPM in Lewisville did it for me and they said it was made in germany and was the factory original but they screwed me on some other work they did for me so I believe that could be accurate

Secondly, this alternator /Gen is not communicating with the PCM because, the communications between the German alt/gen does not exist, the 98 PCM does not speak German.

that makes since becaause i tested the alt and it's good but the alt is for Sure German. That means they have srewed me every chance they got. thank you for helping me figure this out. i should have known
