I have one and if I had to do it again I would not spend the money. I think horespower gains are minimal if at all. It does change shift points, fan relays and will bump up the rev limiter. Your choice

I like it because of the rev limiter, and the ability to adjust the firmness of your shifts. I have used all of its functions and like the results.

maninblack,

IF you drive an A4, then you may consider to purchase one. As for the CORVETTE M/Y 2002, the new HPP3 is not already released (??). But certainly, other fellow CF-Members could confirm this situation or give more informations and news.

I myself am pretty satisfied with the working of the HPP3-software in my M/Y99 A4. There are many advantages in the download of the software, as eg "power-tuning", fueltrim/spark advance, shift firmness, shift points, rpm rev-limiter, different gas-quality ratings, speedo-calibration, gear-ratos, top-speed limiter setting, Fan kick-in earlier, 50 state legal. Until actual, I had not the littlest problems with pinging, knock-retard or whatsoever.

Best is, you can always "go back-download" to genuine stock PCM-setting within about 10', if necessary (Dealer's visit/maintenance). As for their claimed plus 20HP, I am not shure until I can see it during my next DYNO-session during March - I shall keep you posted.

This foreseen run shall cover all my inbetween realized enhancements around the LS1 (bolt-ons), to check results with and without the HPP3. Wish me good luck!

I wouldn't get it for an MN6! I have it an I'm glad I do...but I'll also have an A4. It is basically worthless from a purely HP gain standpoint. I used it for bumping up rev limiter and manage A4 shift points after I bought my Halltech intake. I also used it to set the temp lower 180 degree.

I will use it for the rear end upgrade to 3.42 to reprogram the PCM for an accurate speedo and shift.

I have one I use on my 98 A4. The programer will not allow it to be used on more than one vehicle at a time. Their way of copy protection I guess. I have three 98s (Coup A4, Vert A4 & Coup M6) and I can only use it on one at a time. The programer id's the car before programing begins. If I want to use it on one of the others, I must unload it from the first vehicle. So you can't borrow one just to bump up the rev limiter and return it the owner. :mad

It's handy for the simple stuff like fan temp changes. Plus you can go back to stock tuning if you need to.

What did you mean to say here? I ask because I have a Hypertech III also, but have not tried the power tuning part that modifies timing and A/F ratio yet. I am extremely happy with the rest of it. Thanks!

Ed,

may I ask you to excuse my wording, as english/us-english is not my mother's language. So, must I think having misled you (?), however this was not my intention. :blueangel:

The meaning of my reply to CF-Brother "maninblack" was, that in reference to all my mod's done to the intake section (MTI RamAir...now that's kind of brute cold-air....//GMS-MAFS//BPP VORTEX AirBridge plus Silicone-Coupler), I may have to expect a certain risk of PINGING or KNOCKING/KNOCK-RETARD due to leaning-out the engine. All this under the condition the PCM could NOT compensate the heavily increased amount of the new airflow by adjusting the engine's fuel-trim towards more rich.

Now, if you then go with the HPP3's so-called "powertuning", you eventually increase even more the "risk", by further increasing any lean condition, b/c this part of the software further advances fueltrim AND sparkadvance. So in the end, you might find you with lean mixture AND early/advanced ignition re to one of your pistons which travels already upwards to his ignition stroke [readers ps forgive me, I'm neither a certified expert as many others of you, nor calling me CF-member "kewlbrz" (are you reading?). Just trying to set up my words for the process].

As already mentioned in my first post, I shall check the influence of my HPP3 (mainly HP gain) during my next DYNO-session, agenda in March. One of the reasons I did NOT encounter negative side-effects at all with download of HPP3's software could be find in the fact, that our street-gas here around is of 98ROZ-standard (premium super). Overall, this car pulls real strong and absolutely willing from any position of the accelerator, having even not touched the upper end until now.

Could I reply to your uncertainty? If YES, then BRAVO and I am happy. I shall promise some improvement in formulating...there is always some hope.... :smash:

Joe

I had a Hypertech for my Impala SS which was an automatic. There were some benefits there but I don't see it being much good for an M6 outside of fan temp and rev limiter. I guess you could also use it if you changed your gears or tire size.
