Well finally got some time to work on the Z this weekend. About 4 months ago, I was giving the car a going over and decided to check the header gaskets. I found that the LG supplied gasket on the cylinder one header primary had blown out. A 1" piece of gasket had left me with a big leak. I was just about sure this was the culprit of this long running problem.

So after sitting on replacement gaskets for about 3 months, I went and replaced the driver side gasket and voila....problem completely solved. For anyone else pulling a P0300 code, don't forget to check this during your trouble shoot. It took me a long time to isolate this problem to a simple blown header gasket.
