Default ? for XR-1 owners?

I just purchased Borla Xr-1, will I get any kind of horsepower gains from it? I am current just stock accept for a k&n? Also I heard the sound is awesome, but will there being loud annoying sound while running down the highway in 6th gear at 75mph? ALso what is a fair price for installation of this system?
thanks

If you do a search many people have commented (good and bad ) about the resonance of the XR-1 system. I can live with it. I tend to drive in a higher gear (5, 6) than I used to. It is bad around 2000 rpm but since the sound is so great , I either downshift to hear more or upshift to quite things down.

FYI -- my wife approved of the exhaust -- it can't be too bad !

I just got a thumbs up leaving work -- wide open through 1 and 2 --- I was told it sounded great !

As for power....I do not think you gain much.

As for install --- I did mine ---maybe 3 hours of work ?

Yep, what Paul said.

If you can get access to a lift, you should be able to do it yourself with just basic tools. It's really pretty simple. I wouldn't try to do it on jackstands though. You've got to be able to really get up under the car.

As for the sound, I love mine!! :smash: :smash:

use a lift or don't do it....

its very easy with a lift just need to cut, I have pics of of install but no time to post search under my name and check them out..

as for RHWP my guess on a stock car with out heads and cam would be .......0000001 RWHP or NONE..

but the 50 pounds you save is nice..

If you like you car to sound like it has a V8 get the XR-1!

I agree with all the above. I used a lift and did my own installation in less than an hour. I wouldn't have done it without a lift. I love the sound. There is resonance and I too shift around it. My wife doesn't care for the resonance, does like the sound, especially when getting on it. I usually have the stereo cranked anyway, so I'm not bothered by the resonance. This is the right exhaust for me. Love it.

I have a little resonance with the top up and none with the top down. I think the verts have less than the coupes.

Thanks for all the info, going to get it installed next week. I'll let you know how it sounds, hope to just scare my competition away before racing them.
thanks

no hp gains on a stock car. Resonance can be overcome with a 6 sp. I have an a4 and it does resonate btw 2100-2400 farily badly, but awwww I still love it.

Just for kicks when you get it done drive into a parking garage and goose it just a little. See how many car alarms go off.

I don't think you'll get much in the way of hp gains, but it does sound like it. At first it may seem a bit much, but after a week or two, it is absolutely the coolest thing. I drive easily, 95% of shifts below 3500, and it still sounds ridiculous. Anything other system would have been disappointing. Why drive a corvette if you want it to sound like a lexus? At 70-75 in 6th, it's actually not that loud. It's a bit annoying in the 2000-2500 range, but just shift around in the 6spd. As for installation cost, I'm not sure, I did it myself.
Good luck. :seeya
