Default MGW Shifter with different ****?

You can use the stock **** on the MGW shifter, correct? Also is anyone using a **** other than MGW and stock? I want the MGW shifter but I am not thrilled with their ***** and I would prefer something other than stock.

I have a MGW 30% and I have the stock shift **** on it. The only difference is that there is no place to put the locking key back into the stock ****, the directions say to use Loctite on the threads. I just screwed mine down until it was tight then I cranked it down until it was straight and it has not moved.

Any **** you can thread onto the stock C5 shaft will fit the C5 version of the MGW. The C5 thread is 9/16"-18. MGW also sells a C6 version. I bought the C5 version and installed modified C6 **** I already had.

So you bought the threaded shaft and used a C6 ****? How did you get the **** on? C6 ***** aren't threaded they are slid on and held w a torx fastener.

As I mentioned, I had a modified C6 ****, a C5 threaded version of the MGW and threaded the modified C6 **** onto the threaded shaft. GS Creations sells the **** on the auction site. It has a plastic insert pressed in that you cut threads into when you thread it onto the shaft.

Here are some pics of mine. I made it myself. Finally got sick of trying to get the heighth right by using the threads and a locknut, so I just drilled it deeper, and put a set screw in the back Works good

Like the SEE-YA gear.

I adapted a Hurst f-body **** using an insert I designed and had machined and then drill and tapped for a set screw to lock it in.

Started with this as the insert.

Screwed it in.

Installed it.

Decided I wanted it lower and without the collar showing so modified the insert.

Looks very similar to the C6 **** although I like the C6 **** better.

Funny how similar my '03 Mustang GT **** was.

Would the C6 kit work on the C5 if I were to purchase a C6 ****?

Yes, it would. Careful, though - I haven't checked the availability of aftermarket C6 ***** vs. C5 *****. If you ever want to switch, you'll need to be sure to order a C6 version.
