Default Purchased boot from Redlinegoods

I don't know how I can repair this , or what parts I need to order from Gene Culley to repair!!!!!!! I purchased a set of e-brake and boot from Redlinegoods and followed the instruction they had on there web-page and I messed up the shift **** section ( I don't know what it is called ) there instructions called to turn the **** counterclockwise , which I tried and It wouldn't budge !!! so I grabbed a pair of channel lock's and wrapped the teeth with tape so that I won't damage the ****. turned it counterclockwise with a little pressure and black plastic pin flew up in the air and the **** came loose. I then tried to spin it counterclockwise but it wasn't coming off , I pulled on it and it wound up that it didn't have any treads , you just had to pull-up on the **** !!! , my issue is that know that section is twisted and when I put the **** back on and put the top spring with the white pin on top that I removed as instructed , I push down and it won't pop back up and it is real snug/tight . I believe I'm gonna have to replace that whole section but I can't find it in the catalog... Oh and one more thing I went to corvette essentials instruction and they were clear , it did not tell you to turn the **** counterclockwise , I wish I would have asked in the forum before I started taking everthing apart , Redlinegoods shot me a bad lead now my Christmas mods turned into an expensive repair.... sorry for such a winded note , but I'm stuck ??? ( see below at the instruction that Redlinegoods gave me.

97-04 CORVETTE (C5) INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Click here to fast-forward to installation details for: manual shift boot, ebrake boot, automatic shift boot, armrest cover, grab handle and door pull covers.

1. Pry the plastic shift pattern piece from the top of the shift **** with a small screwdriver.

2. Using a regular set of vice grips remove the shift **** pin located underneath the plastic shift pattern you've just removed. It can be a bit tight to get the vice-grips to go in, so don't force them - find a smaller tool instead. The shift **** pin simply pulls out, however it may be necessary to use a hammer against the shoulder of the vice-grips to get it out. Wiggling and pulling up the vice-grips will help as well.

3. Remove the shift **** (turns counterclockwise).

4. The bottom of the shift boot is attached to an oval-shaped plastic ring. The ring is elastic and you can simply pull it out. To do that, pull on the shift boot towards the shift lever and part of the ring will come out. Do the same around the circumference of the ring to get the whole boot out.

You provide limited info in your post and profile. Is your car an automatic trans?

The Redline Goods instructions you posted are for a manual trans, and they are correct.

I have a Redline shifter boot - while I agree their instructions aren't the best I can't argue with the product, top notch. I've found the same issue with lots of aftermarket vendors - their instructions stink, always prudent to ask questions and be super careful when doing installs.

Guys don't get me wrong I'm not saying anything bad about the product , it is excellent , It's my bad , I just should of done a little more research before I started doing this, I saw the instructions said it was the same for manual and A4's ....... I would would also buy from them again. I just want to see how I can fix my shifter, the black portion ( don't know the name) but it's were the pin slides into is twisted a little from using the channel locks , the **** slides in but when you engage and shift down to reverse , then shift back it will not slide into park, I have to remove the **** and push the pin the ( silver pin between the black portion , I assume it's the shifter houseing) down to place it into park. If I buy a shifter adapter and just put a new after market **** will this take care of my issue. or do I have to replace the whole shifter? please any info will be greatly appreciated.

Gene Culley should be able to help you (GMPARTSHOUSE, site supporting vendor) with new GM parts.
Or, you might be able to use the adapter that many vendors sell which threads on to the a/t lever, enabling you to add any type of **** you want which has 9/16-18" threads. PFYC and others sell the adapter.
If you need a complete shifter assembly, there are two site supporting vendors in the column to the left towards the bottom. They sell used Corvette parts.
Gene's Kar Shop (FL) is another source of used parts.

Yep, always pays to have a service manual....
